Just as the constructions of paragliders are developing every year, so is the methodology of training non-standard flight modes in El Speedo. We invest considerable amounts of time and money in our own training application, which gives you better control over your training, we invest in new equipment, we invest in our own training.

It is worth taking the time to increase your pilot skills.

Methods of El Speedo SIV training

Step by step during training we move you through effective and safe control of a paraglider in various flight modes. In the training plan, we have prepared 24 exercises, which methodically follow each other. Mastering the previous exercise is a basic prerequisite for safe training of the next exercise. During each exercise, we emphasize the readiness of the pilot and the effective pace of training.

Study with us the techniques of active piloting and training exercises in El Speedo SIV preparation before the course. Just send the application, pay the booking deposit and the online preparation is at your disposal.

With an individual approach, we choose the training pace of each pilot and thoroughly record everything in the El Speedo online training application – Pilot Education System (PES). You can see the training recordings of the navigating instructor in real time on your El Speedo accounts, you can immediately consult them with the instructors during the analysis of the training, or you can watch a video tutorial showing the recorded errors and explaining how to do it better next time.

Analysis of situations is an essential part of the program. But recording of maneuver training in a timeline and precise evaluation by an experienced instructor is important for truly effective training, for further training during following events and for your personal analysis after returning home.

SIV lectures

Every pilot in our training must know exactly what he is training and especially why he is training. What to focus on and where the risks are. SIV lectures and simulator training have a fundamental effect on the safety of your flying and the training itself.

Advanced active piloting

We have been teaching the basic principles of active piloting since the first flights of Basic Training. But correct understanding of every principle and mastering the timing, dynamics and depth of pilot reactions is something the SIV training cannot do without.

Coping with asymmetric collapses

After taking off from a forest aisle into a crosswind, when flying in a turbulent environment, in rough thermals, asymmetric collapses can happen and we should know exactly how to get the canopy under control. An unpleasant memory of an asymmetric tuck is the most common reason for SIV training. Also this problem must be properly understood and learned to solve.

How to handle the front-stall

The paraglider designers try to delay with collapses of the leading edge as much as possible. And thanks to different types of differently placed reinforcements, they also succeed. But then how to handle a fast dynamic collapse when flying on such a reinforced glider? We will discuss the constructions and their qualities up to optimal pilot reactions.

Flying at minimum speed

The risks of flying at minimum speed are known to every pilot. But how do I know the real minimum speed limit? And what will be the consequences of exceeding it? And it’s definitely good to know how to get out of such a problem. Because we are not made of rubber and the ground can be prickly…

Full-stall – restart of the paraglider

If the pilot manages active piloting to such an extent that can prevent a canopy entanglement in lines – a cravat, then this relatively demanding solution will not be needed. Unless he’s preparing for acrobatics training. We can solve the cravat in several ways, and a restart is suitable for the more complex situations.

Active use of the Speed system

Once the designers have done the job and given us the opportunity to accelerate the flight, it is good to know when and how to use the Speed system, what canopy reactions we should be prepared for and how to deal with the situation. And that’s what this part of the lectures is about, which of course is followed by practical training.

Descending and escape maneuvers

Being able to in time and correctly recognize a situation suitable for a “retreat” – this is a way to experience another beautiful experience in our paragliding flying in a good mood and good health. We will go through all possible solutions, procedures for their safe implementation and off we fly…

Preparation before training

Organising a safe SIV training is a demanding service, so we will first clearly describe what safety rules we will follow, how to use the rescue system, how to handle automatic vest and how to handle the whole thing without unnecessary risk.

Do you want a thorough personal video analysis?

Professional shooting on a 4K camera for subsequent training analysis is part of our SIV IDRO training. At the end of the course you will receive your complete records from us.

But if you really want a thorough analysis by an SIV instructor, uploaded to a special video file, order a Personal Video Analysis. Choose 5 of your training exercises and we will process, record and submit a thorough analysis of your reactions to these maneuvers within 3 days, with a proposal for optimal reactions and procedures.

Course timeline

On the first day of the course we have a meeting at 9:00 in a designated camp. We will settle, prepare our mobile classroom and start with theoretical preparation for the first training day. This is followed by practice of maneuvers on a hanging simulator. In the end, we check the rescue system of each pilot on the simulator. If necessary, we fine tune the storage of the reserve parachute or, if necessary, repack the poorly serviced reserve parachute.

It is necessary to come to the SIV training with an already repackaged reserve parachute, If you have a second reserve parachute, take it with you, it may come in handy. If you have a harness with a cocoon and another backup one without a cocoon, bring it also with you. The first full stalls are easier in a sitting harness. And also, ultralight harnesses are not very suitable for SIV training.

From the second day, we start with practical training over water, we have the next 3 training days available, we usually fly 2 – 3 flights a day. We have one spare day in case of bad weather. Count on the fact that training above Lago di Idro is usually only possible in the morning, so we will get up relatively early to avoid unwanted intensifying wind.

You can use the final flight for training or to train the reserve parachute usage in real.

Take off shuttle

We organize a shuttle in cooperation with a local transport company, the price is usually under 15 EUR for a ride.

El Speedo SIV team is looking forward to SIV IDRO training:
Dalibor Carbol – lecturer and navigator
Slávek Tmej – lecturer and navigator
Ján Krištúfek – starting instructor and Akro coach
Michal Krause – cameraman and editor

Graduate program

Types of lessons are divided into 5 basic performance categories. This division has a major impact on the unification of the pilot participants’ performance and the subsequent progress of your most effective teaching. And the more you can, the less you pay – it’s fair, is not it?
