In a weight category, gas definitely wins. A petrol burning stove is more universal on longer trips in a bigger wilderness because you can buy some petrol almost everywhere and anytime. But petrol cooking is much more complicated and a bit dirty also. Although you can’t transport a gas cartridge in an airplane, you can buy some usually in every bigger city. So you just have to ask around or authorize the right people to find it somewhere. Probably the best solution is a combined stove Pinguin AURA. The price is about 1500 CZK, including a cooking pot and you can pack it easily to 480 grams package. Which is a satisfactory solution when we don’t plan to cook all the time. I know about some lighter possibilities too (100 grams) but it depends how much tea we will boil with it. And these tiny gas cartridges are not available everywhere.
