We have common goal

Your independent and safe free flying

The paragliding world is all the time on the move. The equipment improves, the requirements for active piloting are increasing as well as performance. We develop paragliding gear and organise various expeditions in the highest mountains in the world. We also organise and participate paragliding competitions and with this experience we are changing our teaching methods. We are always one step forward and so are you.
There are quite a few factors needed for the right understanding of each paragliding topic. The high quality lecturers, right timing of the lesson in the right settings. Theoretical tuition should be followed by practical training by experienced instructors so they can analyse common piloting fails. After all of this, the knowledge should be fixed with some more theory.
That is why we offer in El Speedo all sorts of events and courses which will lead you from begining to independent free flying in the highest mountains in the world.

Detail specifications of El Speedo Pilot levels

The El Speedo instructor tests and approves the level of piloting skills in or out its courses. Gained pilot level is registered either by the instructor himself on the course (if PES educational system is used) or in our El Speedo office.

You can find out your pilot skill on your user account or directly in our office. Contact us by phone: 777 311 661 or by e-mail info (@) elspeedo.cz.

El Speedo Pilot 1

Independent pilot after the elementary course

  • the pilot is able to independently take off, fly, get close correctly to the landing site and land safely. Pilot may be assisted by an instructor
  • the pilot demands assistance of an instructor, together they evaluate conditions, an instructor is in contact with the pilot by walkie-talkie and helps him to take off and land

El Speedo Pilot 2

Perfect start:

  • the pilot can handle all three phases of start smoothly (inflate the glider, control look and smooth gaining of speed
  • the pilot is able to perform at least one techniques of reverse start (with forehead to the glider)

Accuracy landing:

  • the pilot is able to land into 15 metres radius and uses brakes with right timing

Active piloting:

  • the pilot eliminates effectively frontal swinging of the glider and uses weightshifting when making a rotation or passing turbulence
  • Two hours of thermalling pilot is able to perform two-hour flight recorded by GPS

El Speedo Pilot 3

Descent maneuvers:

  • the pilot is able to perform independently B-stall and big ears

Escape maneuvers:

  • the pilot is able to fly with small and big ears while using the speed system in the same time

Frontal and asymetrical collapses:

  • the pilot is able to handle asymetrical collapse (deformation of the leading edge done by pulling at least 50 % of A risers) when using maximum speed bar
  • the pilot is able to solve consequences of full symetrical collapse on full speed of the canopy (using maximum speed bar)

Advanced active piloting:

  • the pilot is able to perform swing independently, ie. frontal swinging of the canopy
  • the pilot is able to handle to exit the dynamic rotation
  • the pilot is perform landing

Twenty kilometres cross country flight:

  • independent flight recorded by GPS according to valid FAI rules

El Speedo Pilot 4

Fifty kilometres cross country flight:

  • independent flight recorded by GPS according to valid FAI rules

Successful graduate of SIV course in past two years:

  • the pilot manage all outline of SIV course (various types of collapse on full speed, descent and escape maneuvers including spiral dive, controled spin and full stall).

El Speedo Pilot 5

Successful graduate of the thermal training:

  • the pilot is able to choose correctly suitable site and is can do thermalling effectively
  • the pilot handles active recentering of a thermal

Successful graduate of the XC training:

  • the pilot is able to prepare and perform independently daily flight plan
  • the pilot actively reacts if the weather worsen

Participant of one of El Speedo paragliding expeditions in past two years:

  • the pilot must successfully undergo at least one training day on SIV course each year:
  • the pilot regularly refreshes his piloting skills in non-standard flight modes and is able to perform them with no mistake to an instructor
